There are plenty of incredible places around the world to take your family, but some stand out when it comes to tourist infrastructure, child-friendly culture, and comfortable climates.

For an unforgettable trip with the kids, we particularly recommend:

• Japan – Exceptionally safe, efficient, and filled with culture and theme parks that kids of all ages love.

• Thailand – Famous for its welcoming culture, warm waters, and hassle-free travel setups.

• The Seychelles – Perfect for a relaxed, postcard-worthy beach getaway with gentle seas and stunning nature.

• Vietnam – Great for adventurous families, offering rich history, beautiful landscapes, and budget-friendly options.

• Mexico – Features world-class resorts, fascinating history, and a very warm, family-oriented atmosphere.

• Sri Lanka – Packed with wildlife safaris, lush train rides, and calm beaches perfect for young explorers.

• Indonesia – Excellent for outdoor adventures, gorgeous beaches, and incredible family hospitality (especially Bali).

Many countries outside Europe do not legally require or provide car seats in taxis and rideshares, so plan your transport in advance. Relying on hailing a quick street cab with a toddler often means riding without a restraint system.

• Book private transfers: When booking airport transfers or day tours, explicitly request an age-appropriate car seat in advance.

• Bring portable options: For kids aged 4+, consider lightweight, safety-certified portable travel boosters that pack flat into a suitcase.

• For babies: Bring your infant bucket seat and verify that it can be installed using standard 3-point seatbelts, as ISOFIX/LATCH anchors aren't available in all global vehicles.

Healthcare norms vary widely once you leave Western Europe, so make sure you bring a little extra on your trip:

Routine & Travel Vaccines: Check that your child is up-to-date on routine vaccines (like Measles/MMR). Some long-haul destinations require extra protection, such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, or Malaria medication. Some of which have age limits.

Bring a "Kid's Pharmacy": Over-the-counter medicine formulations for children (like liquid ibuprofen, liquid paracetamol, or electrolyte rehydration salts) can be difficult to find or hard to translate in foreign pharmacies. Pack your own familiar remedies in your carry-on.

Mosquito Protection: In tropical destinations, protect against mosquito-borne illnesses by packing kid-safe insect repellent (containing 10–20% DEET or Picaridin) and lightweight, long-sleeved clothing for mornings and evenings.

Stash a few favorite snacks in your bag, rely on simple staples like rice and grilled chicken, and stick to hot or peelable foods to keep little tummies happy. The idea of feeding a picky eater in places like Thailand or Mexico can make any parent sweat, but don't worry, it’s usually way easier than you think!

Pack "emergency" snacks: Toss a few familiar favorites in your daypack, think fruit pouches, granola bars, or crackers. They are lifesavers during long travel days or when a restaurant menu feels like a complete mystery.

Stick to the simple stuff: You don't need them to eat complex curries on day one. Almost every local cuisine has plain, kid-friendly crowd-pleasers like steamed rice, chicken skewers, plain noodles, or warm flatbreads.

Remember the golden rule: If you can’t cook it or peel it, skip it. Stick to piping-hot cooked meals and fruit you peel yourself (like bananas or mangoes). It’s the easiest way to keep everyone feeling great and avoid any mid-trip stomach bugs.
