Sri Lanka has 2 distinct surfing coasts ensuring excellent conditions year-round.

  • South & Southwest Coast (October to April): The most popular season. Expect warm, gentle waves perfect for beginners and intermediates in areas like Weligama, Ahangama, and Hiriketiya.

  • East Coast (May to September): The dry season for the east. Arugam Bay is the prime destination during this time for long point breaks and more advanced waves

Yes, absolutely! Sri Lanka is famous for its beginner-friendly beach breaks and soft, rolling waves. Many camps, such as those in Weligama, specialize in taking complete novices and getting them standing on a board within a week.

While your camp covers accommodation and main meals, you should budget for lunches, drinks and tips. Local meals are very cheap but alcohol and Western food can be pricier. It's recommended to carry some cash with you (Sri Lankan Rupees).

You should go surfing if you..
