KILROY's Tripmates group tours are for those who want to travel far from the tourist crowds, but not on their own. You'll travel in small groups with young people from across Northern Europe, and our guides are always local. That means you'll get a real feel for the destination, whether you're heading well beyond the tourist trail or deep into the heart of one place. The practical side of the trip is already taken care of, so the only thing you need to focus on is getting there and filling your backpack with experiences and new travel friendships along the way.
In true KILROY fashion, every Tripmates tour comes with freedom built in, because that's how backpacking should be. No matter how long the trip is, there are days where you're free to explore on your own. Whether that means travelling with your new Tripmates, taking some time for yourself, slowing down, speeding things up, finding a beach, or climbing another mountain, that's entirely your call. Some tours take you across multiple countries, while others dive deep into a single destination. Wherever you're dreaming of backpacking, chances are there's someone in our international travel community who wants to go there too.

Absolutely! If you and a friend are keen on doing something together without blowing your entire budget on just partying and tourist traps, Tripmates could be just the thing for you. You can book your spots together online, or separately. It’s totally up to you!
Do you want to travel with Tripmates as part of a longer trip? No problem! Since intercontinental flights are not included with our Tripmates adventures, you are very flexible.
For example, you can extend the trip and/or add more destinations plus exciting experiences such as volunteering, a road trip with a campervan, surf camp, diving or take a language course. Most things are possible! We can help you design your trip just the way you want it where Tripmates is part of the adventure. Just reach out to learn more, and get help planning your trip.
Yes this is possible! When you book, you pay only a deposit of 150GBP. The remaining amount is paid no later than 60 days before departure, leaving you plenty of time to save up for the trip, while securing your spot early.
On most Tripmates trips, you'll share a twin room or a dorm room with other travellers of the same sex. It's a great way to get to know the group, and helps keep trip costs down.
Tripmates trips are designed specifically for travellers within the advertised age ranges. This helps create a group with similar interests, travel styles, and expectations.
Yes. We've included the key experiences and highlights, but there's also plenty of free time to explore independently, relax, or make plans with other travellers in the group.
