Diving courses abroad

Diving opens up a completely new world beneath the surface. It’s one of the most unforgettable travel experiences, taking you to some of the most beautiful destinations on the planet. The most popular way to get started is with an internationally recognised PADI Open Water Diver or SSI Open Water Diver certification. These beginner courses combine theory, confined water training, and open water dives to teach you the skills and confidence needed to dive independently. Once certified, you can continue your underwater journey with advanced courses and specialty certifications, such as deep diving or wreck diving.

One of the biggest advantages of learning to dive abroad is the environment. Warm temperatures, calm seas, and excellent visibility in destinations like Southeast Asia, Australia, or the Caribbean make it easier and more enjoyable to learn.

If you’re already certified, fun dives are the perfect way to explore the underwater world without committing to a full course. These guided dives are designed for certified divers who want to experience the best local dive sites, marine life, and underwater landscapes at their own pace.

A PADI certification is a globally recognised scuba diving qualification issued by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). It proves that you have completed the required training and safety skills for your certification level, allowing you to dive independently or continue your diving education anywhere in the world. The most popular entry-level certification is the PADI Open Water Diver course.

SSI (Scuba Schools International) and PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) are the two largest diving certification organisations in the world. Both offer internationally recognised certifications that allow you to dive worldwide and follow similar training standards.

The main differences are in their teaching approach and course structure. SSI courses are often more digitally focused and flexible, while PADI is known for its extensive global network of dive centres.

Whichever certification you earn, you'll gain the skills needed to dive safely and can continue your training with advanced courses and specialty certifications recognised around the world.

Some of the world's best diving destinations include Australia, Indonesia, the Maldives, Fiji, the Philippines, Thailand, Egypt, and Belize. These destinations are famous for their colourful coral reefs, diverse marine life, excellent visibility, and dive sites suitable for both beginners and experienced divers.

Most beginner diving courses, such as the PADI Open Water Diver, take 3–5 days to complete. The course combines online or classroom theory, confined-water training, and open-water dives, giving you the skills and certification needed to dive independently.

Diving comes with certain risks, mostly related to pressure changes, equipment, and environmental variables. That's why it is extremely important to work with qualified instructors and reputable dive centres.

At KILROY, we work with trusted diving schools and partners around the world that follow international safety standards and provide professional training, equipment, and guidance. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced diver, you'll be supported every step of the way.
