Magical Mexico

After arriving in Mexico City, you can take some time to recover from your flight or head straight out to explore part of this colourful capital. In the evening, you'll meet the rest of your group.

Mexico City is huge, so it can be difficult to know where to start. Luckily, the next day a local guide will take you and your new travel buddies on a city tour. You'll visit the Monument to the Revolution, where you'll enjoy panoramic views over the city while learning more about Mexico's history. Before lunch, you'll discover several other highlights with your guide.

After enjoying some delicious tacos for lunch, you'll have the afternoon free to continue exploring at your own pace.

Think that's all? Not quite. The following day, you'll hop aboard a traditional trajinera boat and cruise through the historic canals of Xochimilco, part of the ancient water system built by the Aztecs.

From Mexico City, you'll travel south to Oaxaca, a city famous for its rich culture, colourful traditions and incredible food.

After arriving, you'll take a short walk through the historic centre with your group. You'll visit the local market, where you'll have the chance to try a traditional tlayuda – a large crispy tortilla topped with beans, cheese, vegetables and meat.

You'll also visit a local chocolate workshop to learn how traditional Mexican chocolate is made.

During your stay, you'll have plenty of free time to explore Oaxaca however you like. Visit historic buildings, browse local markets or relax in one of the city's lively squares.

Before leaving for your next destination, you'll visit an Alebrijes community, where local artisans handcraft the colourful, imaginative figures that Oaxaca is known for. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at this unique art form and learn about its importance in local culture.

After an overnight bus journey, you'll arrive in the beautiful state of Chiapas. Before reaching San Cristóbal, you'll stop at the impressive Sumidero Canyon.

During a boat trip through the canyon, you'll cruise between towering cliffs that rise more than 750 metres above the river. Keep your eyes open for crocodiles, monkeys and a variety of bird species along the way.

Afterwards, you'll continue to San Cristóbal de las Casas, a charming colonial town located more than 2,100 metres above sea level.

You'll have a full free day to discover the town at your own pace. Wander through the colourful streets, visit local markets or explore nearby Maya villages.

If you'd like to get out into nature, you can also visit Lagunas de Montebello National Park, home to dozens of crystal-clear blue lakes surrounded by rolling hills.

Today you'll travel towards Palenque, with a stop at the beautiful Roberto Barrios Waterfalls. Here you can cool off with a swim in the clear turquoise pools surrounded by lush jungle.

Once in Palenque, you'll visit one of Mexico's most impressive Maya archaeological sites. During a guided tour, you'll discover ancient temples and palaces hidden among the rainforest, where history and nature come together in an unforgettable setting.

Afterwards, you can choose to explore more of the surrounding jungle or simply relax at your hotel while keeping an eye out for tropical birds and other wildlife.

From Palenque, you'll continue to Bacalar, a laid-back destination best known for its stunning lagoon, often called the Lagoon of Seven Colours.

You'll have a full free day to enjoy everything the lagoon has to offer. Go swimming, kayaking or paddleboarding, or simply relax by the water and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Before leaving Bacalar, you'll take a boat trip across the lagoon, giving you the perfect opportunity to admire the incredible shades of blue that make this place so famous.

After your boat trip, you'll travel to Valladolid, a charming colonial town in the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula.

On arrival, your tour leader will take you on a short walk through the historic centre. Valladolid is known for its colourful streets, lively squares and strong Maya heritage, which is still reflected in everyday life.

You'll find authentic restaurants, local markets and street food stalls serving traditional Yucatán dishes. It's a great place to experience local culture before continuing your journey.

After your stay, you'll visit one of Mexico's most famous archaeological sites: Chichén Itzá.

During a guided tour, you'll learn about the history, religion and traditions of the ancient Maya civilisation while exploring this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site.

See the famous Pyramid of Kukulcán (also known as El Castillo), visit the Sacred Cenote and discover other fascinating structures, including Las Monjas (The Nunnery). It's easy to see why Chichén Itzá is recognised as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

After visiting Chichén Itzá, you'll continue to Tulum on Mexico's Caribbean coast.

Known for its relaxed atmosphere, white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, Tulum is the perfect place to slow down after weeks of adventure.

You'll have the evening free to spend however you like. Grab a cocktail at a beach bar, enjoy dinner overlooking the sea or dance the night away at one of the beach clubs.

Prefer something quieter? Take a sunset walk along the beach and soak up the final days of your Mexican adventure.

Complete your Open Water Diver course in Playa del Carmen and earn the world's most recognised scuba diving certification.

One of the highlights of diving here is exploring the famous cenotes. Watching sunlight filter through small openings into these underground caves is an unforgettable experience unlike anywhere else in the world.

The course consists of five learning modules, combining self-study, classroom theory, practical training sessions and a final assessment.

During the course, you'll stay in your own comfortable apartment. The dive centre is only 100 metres away, while the beach and Playa del Carmen's lively main street—with cafés, bars, boutique shops and local markets—are all within easy walking distance.

Please note that you must wait at least 18–24 hours after your final dive before flying, so make sure you leave enough time before catching your flight home.
