Frequently asked questions
We’ve answered the most common questions about this Philippines adventure below.
The itinerary is designed as a longer adventure through the Philippines, combining an adventure tour, diving, an island safari and two weeks of volunteering. Want to keep your trip shorter? You can simply leave out the volunteering part. Prefer to stay longer? Add extra days to explore the Philippines or extend your volunteer project. Your KILROY travel expert can adjust the itinerary to fit your plans, interests and travel time.
Yes. You can travel this itinerary solo, while joining organised activities along the way gives you plenty of opportunities to meet other travellers. The volunteer project and island safari are also great ways to spend time with people from different countries.
You’ll need to make sure you have the right travel documents, travel insurance and any required vaccinations or health preparations. You’ll also need to meet the requirements for the volunteer project, including providing a police clearance certificate. We can help you prepare for the trip and make sure you know what you need before you leave.
No. This is a suggested route, not a package you have to follow exactly. You can add destinations, skip activities you’re not interested in or extend your trip. Your KILROY travel specialist can help you turn the suggested itinerary into a trip that fits you.
The itinerary is designed so that the different parts connect smoothly. Where flights are needed to continue the route, we can arrange these as part of your trip. Your travel specialist will help you work out the best connections based on your travel dates.
Yes, transport is included for the organised parts of the itinerary. This includes transfers during the Cebu Explorer, the boat safari from Coron to El Nido and the relevant airport transfers for your volunteer project. Your international flights are also included in the itinerary price. Your travel specialist will explain exactly what is covered for each part of the route.
You’ll spend your weekdays helping at a local kindergarten in Palawan. You’ll teach children basic English, maths and science through games, songs, dancing, colouring and other interactive activities. You’ll also support the local teachers with classroom management and daily routines. You’ll volunteer for a minimum of four hours per day, leaving time to explore and relax.
You’ll stay in different types of accommodation depending on where you are. The adventure tour and other stops use backpacker-style or standard accommodation, while the island safari uses basic beach cottages or tents. During your volunteering project, you’ll stay in shared rooms with bunk beds alongside other volunteers.
No. The itinerary includes a PADI Open Water Diver course in Dauin, so it’s suitable if you’ve never dived before. You’ll learn the basics through theory, confined-water sessions and open-water dives. Already have your diving certificate? No problem. We can arrange fun dives instead.
