Best time to travel to Thailand
Thailand is a year-round destination thanks to its tropical climate, but the best time to visit is generally between November and March. During these months, temperatures are pleasant, rainfall is low and conditions are ideal for everything from exploring Bangkok and Chiang Mai to island hopping in the south.
The rainy season typically runs from May to October. While you can still travel during this period, expect short but intense tropical showers, especially in the afternoons. The upside is fewer crowds, greener landscapes and often lower prices.
If you're planning to visit Northern Thailand, it's also worth being aware of the burning season, which usually takes place between February and April. During this period, agricultural burning can lead to poor air quality around destinations like Chiang Mai, Pai and Chiang Rai. If you're travelling during these months, we often recommend spending more time in Southern Thailand or adjusting your route accordingly.
